Glasgow East End

WEST on the Green is a brewery, beerhall and restaurant on Glasgow Green, serving German-inspired dishes alongside beer brewed on site.

WEST Brewery

This place is great if you’re just coming for drinks — the Weizen (wheat beer) is genuinely good and comes out quickly. But if you’re planning to eat here, I’d honestly give it a miss.
The service is painfully slow, and before anyone blames the kitchen — that’s not where the problem is. It’s the waiting staff. We ordered a Sunday roast and a schnitzel, along with chicken wings as a starter. The wings arrived barely warm — clearly ready long before they were brought out, just sitting there waiting to be served.
The Sunday roast is literally a dish that should already be prepped and just waiting to be plated up — there’s no excuse for that taking 40 minutes. And the schnitzel? My grandmother couldn’t even cut through it, let alone eat it. That says it all really.
There’s a real disconnect between the vibe of the place and how it’s actually run. This isn’t about the staff being bad people — the management needs to change. And speaking of management, you never see them on the floor. You can’t spot what needs fixing if you’re never actually out there, even occasionally.
Plenty of other restaurants nearby do this so much better. It’s fine if people just want to drink — but failing to get food out properly when someone’s actually dining? That’s a problem. What really got me was when a manager came over and casually said that 40 minutes between ordering and receiving food is completely normal. That’s not okay.
These guys are heading for trouble — please sort it out before it’s too late!
Sorry for the 1-star rating — you do have potential, and honestly that’s exactly why I’m leaving this review. I hope it gets the right person’s attention and things actually change.

From the day we viewed WEST as a potential wedding venue right up until our wedding day, WEST were brilliant. The wedding coordinator kept us organised and were quick to respond throughout planning. On our wedding day seeing all of our plans come to life was amazing, they got our guests going at the dinner and worked so hard throughout the night. Thank you for being a part of the best day of our lives, big love from The Liebows

We had our wedding at WEST Brewery in May 2026 and I cannot recommend the venue enough. Rhian, our wedding coordinator, was a star throughout the planning process and couldn't have been more helpful! Rhian and the team were phenomenal on the day – everything ran so smoothly and absolutely nothing was too much hassle. Every member of staff made us feel so special and catered for at the wedding and even the following morning when we collected our things, they were all so quick to welcome us back in. The food and drink was fantastic, we had so many guests that complimented the meal and canapes. If I was to plan my wedding all over again, I would choose WEST in a heartbeat.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. As a lover of all things Germanic, this hit the spot. The service was excellent (can't remember her name but our waitress was lovely), and the food was delicious, with much to choose from. There is a great selection of beers and if we were local, we'd be back regularly to try them all!

Visited this afternoon, have to say very different experience than I have had at any previous visit.
The Veg Wellington and Roast Beef dinner served were well short of what I expected.
Both were lukewarm at best no steam rising from the plate, apart from roast pots, I raised these concerns with both waitresses and one did offer to replace, but as we had started eating and my wife didn't want to cause a scene we declined.
I left almost all of my roast beef and asked the waitress to put this in tin foil if or our dog when we get home ( she would have eaten it there and then but we waited until home, yeah she loved it)
My wife left most of her Veg Wellington, just not edible or warm, her Yorkie pud looked almost raw inside, mine was cold. See attached pics.
I also ordered a beer when we ordered our meal and it never appeared, could hardly get eye contact from any of the waitresses so left it until the came to clear the table, so the beer was cancelled.
Although they apologised and discounted £8 of our bill I still feel short changed and disappointed at the service and quality of the food.
In saying that I hold no blame on the waitresses they were pleasant enough.
As an aside Wee Harley our dog loved the roast beef she had and the roast pots were the only acceptable part of the meal.
Just wish I had overruled the Mrs....we are now sitting with rather upset stomachs...
